OAuth Authentication for Google and Microsoft mail servers
We’re excited to announce a major update to POPcon and POPcon PRO with the release of version 4.8.1!
Both Google and Microsoft have announced for quite some time that they will be discontinuing traditional password-based authentication for their email services, such as Gmail and Microsoft Office365 email. This is part of their broader effort to enhance security and move towards modern authentication methods.
But no worries!
Our products, POPcon and POPcon PRO, are ready for this transition and now fully support OAuth authentication for both Googlemail (IMAP) and Microsoft Office365 (IMAP).
What’s New:
- OAuth Authentication for Gmail (IMAP/POP3)
No more relying on password-based logins! Easily authenticate your Gemail IMAP and POP3 accounts with the industry-standard OAuth protocol. - OAuth Authentication for Microsoft Office365 (IMAP)
POPcon now supports OAuth for Microsoft Office365 IMAP accounts, ensuring a secure and seamless experience as password-based logins are phased out.
Why This Is Important:
- Enhanced Security: OAuth eliminates the need to store or use plain passwords for authentication.
- Compliance: Google and Microsoft will soon discontinue support for basic authentication, making OAuth the standard for secure email access.
- Future-Proof: By upgrading to v4.8.1, you’ll ensure uninterrupted access to your email accounts as these changes take effect.
We’ve made the transition simple, and we’re here to help!
